America can't find the political will to do what needs to be done for all of us to survive. About a quarter of the population doesn't believe yet that climate change is real, or that it is an immediate problem. In a democracy that doesn't require the population to vote that means it is almost enough to make a majority just on this single issue.

On the other hand, the opposition party still depends upon racial and gender divisions so it can keep the fossil fuel and banking gravy train its politicians are addicted to moving at top speed. Biden was very quick to shift from climate issues to inflation as his priority, not acknowledging how connected they are. He is handing out drilling leases like party favors, but that isn't surprising considering his mentor, Obama get behind the pipeline destined to transport the dirtiest oil on the planet, kicking Native tribes to the curb when they claimed sovereignty over their own lands and refused the right of way for water destroying muck.

There simply is no political faction in America that could be described as "left" or "environmentally consious", even when a vast majority of Democrat and left leaning independent voters list climate change as their top priority in voting. They are not offered any choices from a party that would rather lose elections than give up the ability to tap wealthy climate destroying donors.

We also have a political system that outwardly appears democratic, but was really designed to be anything but. It has still not granted equal representation to women or people of color, much less addressed the problem of overall massive wealth inequality that threatens the very lives of anyone who can't play the capitalist game successfully. It wields its combined power against any it considers an enemy of capitalism in the world, but reacts in very fragmented fashion, reverting back to its Republic of states when the people need protection from the oligarchy and their banks and corporations, or they just allow any helpful legislation to die in the very non-democratic Senate designed just for that purpose.

If you're looking for any help in changing/saving the world from us, I would suggest you attend a few tractor pulls, wrestling matches, rodeos, or country music concerts to better understand Americans and just how hopeless any such appeal to their intellect or logic is.
