America got here because it has no organized opposition to the GOP madness. Had the Democratic party held true to its roots in the working class of America Trump would never have been allowed to enter the White House without a tour guide. Trump, and all of the failures of his administration are only symptoms of the disease of faux freemarket economics, which the DNC is wholly invested in.

It was never a great secret that the GOP is corrupt to its core because it promotes its corruption as a "feature". The fact is that the last three Democratic administrations couldn't capitulate to GOP fanatics fast enough and only served to tell the American people that any prosperity they may hope for was a pipedream.

Biden was making noises about "moving forward" just a week ago in an obvious attempt to mimic the mostly failed Obama administration that began with the same overture too his rush to capitulate. Let's see him get past this one and continue his "business as usual" corporate agenda now that we have seen our future portrayed in the cartoon world of conservative extremism.
