And SCOTUS will declare Social Security to be unconstitutional. You watch.

Social Security has been the third rail of politics and a very real benefit to America's elderly. However, the truth is that it has been perverted to serve a different reality than was intended by FDR.

The payroll deductions that are claimed to fund the program and the special bonds that they purchase only represent a reduction in the buying power of the working class and actually do nothing to fund the program. Instead, they are used to reduce the national debt, as are all Treasury bonds, and benefit payments to the elderly and disabled are funded with new money creation.

This means that Americans are losing buying power for no real reason beyond perpetuating a myth. The national debt is not a debt the private sector owes, so it should not be expected to pay it down with the wages of the working class. We should stop payroll deductions and simply fund benefits with government spending. This would eliminate the propaganda value of a "fund going broke" and make Congress answerable for benefits.
