AOC "advocated for" denying Amazon the tax breaks it demanded. The last time I looked at the powers of the house it didn't include making decisions for a state concerning their tax policy.

The tax breaks were not the only demands Amazon made as conditions of locating there. The infrastructure investment required to support a facility of that size with roads, rail, and utilities is massive and you can bet Bezos wasn't wanting to pay any of that.

The jobs he was offering at that time would have also burdened the state with additional safety net expenditures as they didn't come close to paying a living wage, especially in that neck of the woods. Very few of the workers would have been contributing to the state coffers and the project would have been a magnet for increased population growth of low earning potential.
