As a veteran of the civil rights and anti-war protest movements of the '60s I can attest that Democrats love violence when it is institutionalized. The cops and national guard clubbing us in the head and turning dogs and firehoses on us were all good loyal Democrats. Institutionalized violence preserves the status quo and the tyranny of majorities. Bending a majority of the people to an ideology that benefits them has never been difficult until the benefit part stopped.
