Capitalism, like socialism or communism, derives any morality it expresses from the people through their government and regulation. Some argue that it is more corruptible than the others because of the profit motive and the need to provide benefit to shareholders, but I believe they are all equally corruptible.
The main problem with capitalism in the US is that capitalists here (check your bank account to determine if you r one) have had the advantage of a largely econ illiterate populace. The capitalists have managed to convince a significant portion of the population that their democratically elected government is at fault whenever capitalism fails to provide the utopia it promised. Of course, the solution is always less government oversight and taxation to direct behavior.
Capitalists survive quite well in other countries that place the wellbeing of their population above that of the capitalists and their businesses. There are few American corporations that don't jump to do business in the much more "socialist" Nordic nations and one of those nations always seems to land the top spot in "Best Place To Start A Business". This is because the governments there don't allow corporate predation to the extent that it destroys the people's ability to engage in commerce in a meaningful fashion.
