Democrats make this easy for them. They hinge prosperity for the middle class on the ability to extract dollars from the wealthy. If the average voter believes that dollars grow on wealthy people s/he can also be convinced that it is the wealthy who create jobs and government investments are added "costs". Both are complete BS but widely accepted because the concept of a "currency-issuing" government with unlimited dollars at its disposal is simply too foreign to wrap his/her head around.
