Fascism was never actually defeated. It simply moved. The irony is that it moved first to the economy that most prided itself on defeating it, the US, with trickle-down and market-based capitalism.

The US, having the only productive capacity not decimated in WWII, was free to accept neoliberalism’s lies and manipulations while the nations of Europe had to form strong support mechanisms to simply feed and house their populations. Those support mechanisms are still mostly intact in Europe and benefiting the people although under attack by the dominance of US corporations and privatization continually.
