Germany has created a good mix of labor/capital control of production by requiring that labor maintain a minimum level of voting shares on company boards. I believe that capitalism has a place in a healthy economy as long as workers remain in control of their government and that government provides a strong regulatory presence that balances out the purely profit-driven motivations of capitalism. Recognizing that motivation and that it will never have a conscience is vital to keeping capitalism in check, and that means no corporate money or influence can flow into our government. I also don’t believe that any company should be national in scope, relegated to regional limits that prevent too much power in the wrong hands.
