His UBI would simply replace existing safety nets for most people who need it the most. It is only another way to shovel public money (debt) to the rentier class using poor and working poor people as a conduit. It doesn't guarantee that the $1000 benefit will buy anything and would deter wage increases while feeding inflation of goods needed to live.
