How about we compromise and define “progressive” as anything left of Eisenhower, or even Nixon? Moving the goalposts has resulted in the neoliberal wet dream we are living at the moment. I expected Obama to drag the Overton window leftward a bit, until I saw his cabinet picks. When can we expect some “progressive” legislation from Democrats? Or do we continue to allow them to define the term as anything their donors approve of?
