I didn't think that getting someone banned would be such an easy thing to do, so I didn't back up any of my years of friends, pictures, memories before I got the notice. It was so automatic that Facebook never even told me what I posted to cause it or who reported it, but refused to reinstate the page or allow me access to retrieve my data.

I am not the type to post anything extremely offensive or harass someone in a public venue. The worst they could have objected to would have been a "slightly" off color meme. It makes no difference to Facebook and it has turned into a very effective method of silencing people for any number of reasons. I've talked to several others who have had similar experiences since.

Facebook is a private business and is within their rights to do what they please, but it is also a means of communication that people have come to rely on. It needs to step up and, at least, respond to objections to such autocratic decisions. Can you imagine the uproar that would ensue should someone lose their phone service because someone else found their conversations offensive?
