but we’re still going to need a system that allows us to say to a few people, “Sorry, friend, but your health problem can’t be fixed without spending too much money. Go die.” Yes, that sounds terrible, but that’s the reality.
I feel sorry for anyone who lives in a world where that is a reality. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be in this world.
The monopoly issuer of the nation’s currency, Congress, can “afford” anything that is for sale and price in that currency, regardless of how much that price is or its revenue position. The sooner we realize that our federal government “funds” us and our economy, not the other way around, the sooner we can dump the false scarcity perception that enables our extreme brand of neoliberal capitalism and begin forming a civilized society.
