I fully agree that this present situation is unlikely to end well. Without some physical division between the widely opposite sides as we had in the civil war it will be an "all or nothing" battle for America's future. That integration of ideas in our society leaves questions about who will fight for which side, even among our law enforcement and the various agencies of our governments.
Do we even have the ability to put down a rebellion if the rebels are asked to support the establishment in their job capacity? We have seen evidence of the political leaning of the average American cop. Is there any margin of political victory that can overcome the belief of many that will only allow a victor for their side as acceptable without accusations of fraud? What happens if a majority of state elections are put under the shadow of doubt of legitimacy with no concrete evidence to the contrary? Can our democratic process survive that?
