I have a friend on FB that started several groups there and has a great economics blog. We once had an argument about his choice of words, and I was wrong. I thought it better to attract others with non-threatening terms for our condition while he insisted "Austerity is murder by proxy" stated it more accurately and forced people to view their government from a perspective based in reality.
There is a definite purpose served by most terminology, and it is the language of our oppressors. It rolls off the tongue easily because we have been conditioned to it by our media and every person in power. There are few places where such effort is made to condition people against their own best interests more than in economics, and it is the most difficult part of gaining a true understanding. I guess it stands to reason given that economic gain is the reason for almost all of it.
