I have dozens of family members and friends who have serious health issues from Covid and I know tens more who have died from it. My barber died from it, and yet family members claim I'm being paranoid because I cut my own hair at home and don't go to stores even though I'm fully vaccinated.

There is no denying the political division that exists in this. All of those who claim it is nothing to worry about are conservative Republicans. The push to open schools and business is entirely political and the pittance of stimulus we have received was more a slap in the face and symbolic of how worthless we are in their eyes.

If not for the resistance of conservatives and their already massive misinformation pipeline we could be much more relaxed with proper safeguards in place in our businesses. Our federal government literally creates money as it is needed and could have both propped up business and paid for whatever measures were needed.

However, that would let the cat out of the bag and people would find that their government is capable of doing much more for them than it has. I guarantee that whatever inflation would result would be less than we now see because of shortages and supply line issues, not to mention corporate greed run rampant.

Shouldn't we, at least, expect it not to systematically kill us to feed the profit machine long enough to get beyond this very real threat?
