I have no doubt that a President Williamson’s cabinet would resemble, and perhaps even include, that of Sanders or Warren. What is delusional is that America believes its Presidents direct every action of the office. The job is simply too big for any one person and it’s the good delegators that do it best. Trump dictates very little of his administration’s policy and he is doing quite well at carrying out the wishes of his voter base.

What Ms. Williamson brings to a platform that could double as Bernie’s is her communication and influence skills, which are formidable. She is the anti-Trump in almost every way. Would it be all that terrible to let morality and justice guide policy and cabinet choices? We have done much worse, and quite recently. She has as good, or better, grasp on national finance than anyone running with the possible exception of Bernie. She simply adds another dimension to progressive policies that would have great appeal to the non-wonky majority of voters.

Trump won without sharing any details for any of his claims because he understands how the human mind works. Too often we “want” to be conned. Knowing this separates the really great con artists from the grifters. He was lying all the way, but he managed to beat Hillary, the ultimate policy wonk, from her left and make people believe he was sincere. It’s just too bad that our impeachment standards don’t include such blatant reversal. Progressives would have cheered for it during Obama’s Presidency, so it’s not a partisan concept.
