I know all about socialists because I are one, for the most part.

Progressives mix two different goals together because they believe there is a connection. Those are funding a more equitable and just economy and soaking the bejesus out of the rich. They are both worthy goals, but attaching them together means we can't have nice things like other countries until we can overcome the influence of wealth in our government and collect some of their money.

If they understood macro-econ and their government's ability to spend infinite numbers of dollars on anything that is for sale priced in dollars they would know that the key to defeating the wealthy is to do the equitable and just economy first and only then, when the rich are made irrelevant, tax the hell out of them just because they have too much money, not to "fund" anything.
