I see one problem (that I have a solution for) and one really great point that you didn't really touch on.

First the great point that you just barely missed.

As we cut back on our bloated military we also cut back on the largest user of fossil fuels in our nation. It has been stated that, if the US military were a separate country, it would rank 9th or 10th highest in the use of fossil fuels. That's one of the best unintended consequences I've seen in some time.

Now for the problem (and solution).

You make the common mistake in believing that we must "find" money to combat climate change, by cutting some programs or greatly raising taxes. The truth is that we could start serious work on our issues at any time without adding a dime to "revenue".

The US dollar is a creation of our laws, not some "thing" we must "find" before we can spend it on something nice. Cutting the military budget or raising taxes are, in spite of popular opinion, heavy lifts. Both would be better accomplished incrementally over some time that would not create a panic and a lot of outlandish propaganda in support of the military or the wealthy "job creators".

We know we "must" make some drastic changes if we are to guarantee humanity's survival. The good news is that our Congress creates every net dollar in the economy out of thin air and can "afford" anything it can resource. If we fail to combat climate change it will be because Congress and its donors "want" us to fail, not because we couldn't "find" money.

Ditto with our social issues and economic suffering. It's hard to imagine that they actually want us to suffer, but that is the only possible explanation. People who are that evil can't be assumed to not also want us to disappear as a species, because "they" damn sure know how money works.
