I tend to agree with you. However, the problem is that there are no jobs.

Politicians make far too much fuss about jobs. America's productivity went up every year since '80 except for '09, but wages remained flat. The stuff we need is getting made but workers aren't getting a share of that because voters don't understand finance at the federal level and equate all econ to their household budget process.

The federal government can easily become the employer of last resort for any labor the private sector rejects. In doing so it would set the floor for wages and benefits without legislation. The definition of "work" can be whatever we say it is and we can end involuntary unemployment while making labor available to communities and cities for whatever they need to improve the quality of life for citizens.

As long as the people are able to purchase goods and services there is nothing saying it all has to be made here. That ship sailed long ago, so we might as well take advantage of the lower prices of imports without investing our resources in them.
