If a couple of guys were robbing a liquor store, instead of a few thousand attempting to destroy our democratic process, and someone was killed in the action the guy sitting in the getaway car would have been just as culpable of murder charges as someone inside that pulled the trigger on the murder weapon.
Why is our rule of law so flexible when politicians are the violators? What about many Senators and representatives who aided the criminals? If we don't apply the law equally at the top we can't expect to have any hope of it being a deterrent at the bottom. It is obvious that the non-state status of DC has corrupted the process of justice and we should be fixing that before it blows up in our faces.
