If one is looking for the roadmap to Utopia they should keep looking past MMT. Most objections to the correctness of the concept are strawman arguments that no actual MMT economist has suggested or advocated for.
MMT simply moves the focus of econ from the balance sheet to resources and productivity where it belongs. Doing so also moves much of the control over our society from those who control the money to those who "potentially" control the resources and productivity, so I don't expect any real application of MMT principles in my lifetime.
The power of money has been the bane of humanity since it was invented and is far too entrenched to be dislodged by logic and truth alone. Never mind that any suffering that could potentially be mitigated with spending is entirely a political decision and not economics. Suffering is now so "American" that it is revered as much as are the excesses of wealth.
