In order to defeat climate change, our number one priority is to change the economic system.

No system can prevent corruption or inept governance. Our sovereign fiat currency offers all that can be expected from an economic system. It assures that our representatives can "afford" anything that can be resourced, making any misery or environmental needs strictly a political "choice" (usually benefiting a group of donors), not economics.

Taking this logic a bit further it is quite obvious that we need better representatives and that means, especially in a democratic political system, better voters with better priorities. Given that the number one highest-paid public employee in most states is not a scientist or a statesman, but a football coach, I just don't hold out hope for our future any longer.
