Just as the polls began shifting to the right the GOP seemed to find the guts to openly admit (or at least refused to deny) their intentions to make cuts to Social Security and Medicare, the big two third rails of politics. Sure, they tie the deficit to inflation and use that as a strawman to knock down, but that should be a softball for any Dem minimally econ literate.
I'm getting the sense that this election is a race both want to lose for some reason. Perhaps they know something that we don't about future events, or they realize that winning just might place them at odds with their donors. Biden has found wiggle room to back, at least partially, out of every campaign promise and even McConnell has softened his approach toward some bipartisan agreement to the great ire of the party's base.
