Many of the potential advantages of a Basic Income system just aren’t likely to materialise in a short-term, small-scale trial.

Ditto with disadvantages. Such a trial would have to be almost statewide to effectively measure its dynamics in the economy. It would also be important to know what existing safety nets would be scrapped to implement (pay for) such a trial, such as housing and food assistance. Leaving the participants without a backup would be a cruel joke as soon as the payment falls short of meeting miminum needs due to inflation, especially in our austerity fixated political environment.
