My answer, which I tried to voice in my essay, is to use the federal taxing power to transfer wealth from the rich to federal control where elected representatives, in the best of the worlds, would oversee its fair and intelligent distribution.
It should be obvious by now that this isn't in our near, or perhaps even distant, future. That doesn't mean that we must succumb to lives of destitution for our working class, as "funding" of the public purpose is not dependent upon tax revenue or borrowing. The restraints upon our federal spending are real resources and labor, not dollars which are always available in infinite quantity.
MMT economists all agree that the best way to assure that the wealthy pay their fair share is to make them completely irrelevant to the public purpose. As long as we "think" we are dependent upon their wealth we must also assure they will stay wealthy to fund the things we collect taxes for. This speaks to the economy in the language of the oppressors, not the reality of our economy or monetary system.
