My favorite economist is Dr. Stephanie Kelton. She was Bernie’s econ advisor in both his Presidential campaigns and has consulted for the US Senate, many Wall St firms, and other countries. She has several YouTube videos from lectures she has given and explains econ in an easy-to-follow style that is friendly to the non-economist. She is currently teaching at Stonybrook University and serving the DNC in an advisory capacity.
Warren Mosler is often cited as the father of MMT. He has experience as an investment banker as well as his time in the classroom and consulting. His writing style is not as easy to read for the non-economist, but he brings a different (right of center) perspective to a mostly leftist following. I’d suggest his “Soft Currency Economics II”.
