My grandson and his wife moved to Norway to escape the growing stress factor and general hatred that drives so much of America. They were instantly accepted and have integrated quickly. I doubt that we will see much of them, although their generous time off and pay scale will allow them frequent visits. They have decided not to take jobs in their fields of study and don’t really need to make high-level salaries to travel and experience life in different cultures. We get weekly updates on their adventures along with pictures, which no one but the wealthy could afford in time or money here.
He went back to school to take advantage of the almost free education and get his doctorate in music education, but he mostly produces music on contract. Not having to pay for medical insurance or retirement savings takes a lot of pressure off their future planning and allows them to live more comfortably in the moment. They are young and adventurous and I couldn’t wish for more for them. They both seem much happier and more relaxed than they did when they were here.
