One issue that could have a considerable impact on the lives of working-class Americans is government-provided daycare. Considering the stated goals and philosophy of our "left-leaning" Democratic party it is quite surprising that this has never been a serious proposal when it was in power. Few issues can promote similar advancement to the various beneficiaries of the party's ambitions, crossing between labor, women's rights, and minority empowerment than would a modern system of child care separate from the education system.
