Perhaps it’s time for the human race to wake up, graduate and join the Galactic Neighborhood.

It can be assumed that any civilization that can transcend the distance to get here is, at least, a level 2 species. We have yet to obtain even level 1 status.

We have a lot of work to do before we can benefit from the obvious advantage communication with these civilizations could offer. I think they have been around long enough that we can discount any fear of being enslaved or wiped out by them, as they certainly have plenty of both capability and reason to do so, given that we can't even get along with members of our own species.
