Perhaps someone who simply promises to always make decisions that reflect love, not hatred or competition, is exactly what America needs. It’s difficult to argue with her positions, even if they aren’t taken seriously in their simplicity. One can’t reflect the love of people and advocate for depriving anyone of basic necessities and fundamental respect.

I originally wrote her off as a bit of a flake, although likable (electable?). She struck a chord with me in her approach to healthcare. Obviously, she thinks everyone deserves the best care without cost, but she went farther and noted that what we have is “sickness care” and to properly address America’s declining health it is necessary to address what is making us sick. She specifically noted the chemical soup we immerse ourselves in, especially our diets.

The surest way to lower our healthcare cost is to lower the number of people who become sick. It worked for the number one cause of illness, smoking, so perhaps it isn’t silly, or naive, to emulate that success. There is a calming factor to her approach to problems that don’t fit into the angry and cynical mood of America, but that may be her key strength, not a detriment. We could certainly do, and have done, worse. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that she probably wouldn’t put children in cages or advocate for anyone to be beaten on camera.
