Reagan and Thatcher solidified the grand lie of taxation "funding" their monetarily sovereign nation's budgets. When people believe "they" are paying for something they feel they have a right to control how "their" money is spent. The "welfare queen" fallacy promoted by Reagan and the "there is no public money, only taxpayer money" statement from Thatcher both were directed to this fallacy and were very effective.

How much different would be the attitudes toward those recipients of public funds, who were the victims of previous racist policies, if the people realized that their governments don't "fund" anything with their tax dollars? What would the budgets of those governments look like if voters understood that they represent currency "injections" into the economy, not burdens placed on workers that diminished their productivity?
