Republicans officially blocked the voting rights bill introduced by Senator Joe Manchin. As National Public Radio reported that same day:

You are reading far too much into Manchin's party affiliations. He is "NOT" a Democrat, even to a more extreme degree that Biden isn't either. Just because a politician proposes a bill and puts his name on it doesn't mean he actually supports that legislation.

Manchin is a very wealthy politician who is heavily invested in an industry that opposes everything the Democratic party claims to support. I'll believe he is a Dem when he divests his investment and places it into clean energy. He has the ability at the moment to not only strike a blow against a horribly polluting industry but to protect his constituents from any harm that might result from that. He has, and never did have, any inclination toward doing so.

His boldness in opposing what the American people want only shows that he fears no reprisal of any consequence from his party or his President. I would love to see a LBJ type Democrat in the white house when Manchin makes his intentions well known that he will simply continue to vote his own stock portfolio over the future of mankind. Biden is far from such a President, much less the FDR he is compared to by ignorant party loyalists.
