Tax them whatever amount makes you feel better, but don't hinge critical public services and infrastructure on your success. Taxes don't actually pay for anything at the federal level and the surest way to kill any public service spending bill is to ask "how will you pay for it". At that point the Manchins and other Republicans come to the rescue of their donors' wealth and will wade through a flood of snakes with a pissed off bobcat under each arm to oppose it.

Why take on two fights for every bill, the merits and the funding? The only limitation to spending for Congress is inflation, not the money, and even the bright bulbs at the Fed aren't entirely sure what causes inflation. The best way to beat the wealthy is to make them irrelevant to the needs of society. I guarantee that will cause them to pay much higher tax rates over time.

Depending upon taxation of the wealthy to fund that which needs no funding means you must assure that they remain wealthy. It's a ruse played on the rubes by the wealthy and their minion politicians.
