The American economy is still imploding. Bad data, and thinking based on it, doesn’t help. It only prevents seeing the problem.

The unemployment rate only records those who are drawing benefits. The economy has been moving toward gig work for decades and that doesn't qualify for benefits. Even those who do qualify most likely lost their healthcare along with their job, in the middle of a healthcare emergency/pandemic.
