The benefits of a democratic election system have been declining rapidly for a significant percentage of the population. They are tired of the excuses concerning why politicians can't deliver what they promised and are beginning to smell the skunk in the woodshed across both major parties.

The current choices between the fascist right and the neoliberal left just aren't enough different to warrant getting excited about, especially for minorities who have been political footballs for both parties for decades. This has been the nature of our election system since the Powell memo and the DNC's abandonment of labor.
