The fact that so many Americans excuse the cruelty at our border with “they broke the law” causes one to shift blame from our leadership to ourselves, even in this era of rigged elections. The law they broke was a misdemeanor on the order of jaywalking, but it was enough just cause to slake the blood lust of a lost nation fighting against its own demise.

It is very similar to the justification used to excuse killing tens of innocent civilians by drone strike to achieve the death of one “suspected” terrorist. The monumental privilege this requires should warn the world that we cannot be trusted in any alliances and should cause America to be shunned and isolated from any civilized society.
