The false claim America promotes as having a "democratic" system of governance cannot be fulfilled as long as the Senate exists in its present form. Minor rule changes, while enabling some legislation to move forward, will not change the fact that our government is true to its roots in 18th century feudalism and slavery.

Hoping for proponents of those roots to change their support for the oligarchy that is killing us via austerity is futile and certainly won't be realized in time to avoid the inevitable civil war that the working class is currently on the brink of. Such a war will surely present the possibility of becoming global and destroying many of the advances societies have made. While political battles for the Presidency garner most of the nation's attention, the future of humanity may well be in the hands of McConnell and his backward voter base.
