The federal government in the US is "the" monopoly issuer of its own currency and is not revenue constrained in its spending. Collecting on student loan debts does absolutely nothing for the government in terms of its ability to spend.

The benefit has already been distributed to students, so the only factor in the equation is whether their future purchasing power will be reduced by the repayment of what should have been a social investment in the first place. When this truth dawns on you please extend it to Social Security and Medicare witholdings and work to end both of those as well for the same reason.
