The federal government is going to have many decisions to make in the near future and none of them will be compatible with either radical Republican or neo-liberal Democratic goals. There is no longer a good choice to be made between the parties and voters are sensing this, albeit unconsciously.

We have seen our government consistently choose their donors over the people the representatives were elected to serve in, at least, 85% of policy decisions. They have used all forms of division, from basic class envy to outright racism, to prevent the people from understanding just how unified they actually are, in spite of theatrics to the contrary. The result has been a radical shift toward a fascist ruling class exerting its will on the working class via bought and paid for politicians.

I see a lot of liberals celebrating the new spending bills and the capitualtion of Republicans to Biden's agenda. Nothing about the GOP has moved from its business as usual in protecting the donor class, but the "new" Democrats (since about the mid-70s) have simply moved into the space left open by the radicalization of the GOP voter base. If anyone believes there is a "left" party any longer I have a bunch of dangerous and broken brides for sale specifically for them.

Trump offered the promise to "drain the swamp" and a significant number of frustrated working-class voters were ready for anyone with a similar message. They may be sadly uninformed and guilty of making such a bad choice, but it was the only one that didn't represent the corrupt status quo. His total lack of qualification for the job only showed just how desperate the people were to be rid of career politicians and their corruption.

The last election was entirely much closer than it should have been, even given Biden's lackluster showing with his only message for the people being that he wasn't Trump. If the GOP finds a more articulate and less confrontational version of Trump it will be game over for Democrats and our democracy.
