The job really is too big for any one person. That’s one of the main reasons Trump is failing so badly, as he can’t let go of power to delegate. A good President brings with him a team that s/he trusts enough to give them wide latitude without assuming his/her authority or responsibility.
Presidents in the last few decades have chosen their VPs with more political purpose than tactical, which is an extreme waste. Biden was Obama’s signal to the oligarchs that they had nothing to fear from him. He quickly proved that by appointing Geithner and Summers to top econ positions to handle the bailout. Bernie’s econ leadership would not come from Wall St, but from academia, specifically, those who understand the critical role of fiscal policy and deficit spending in our economy.
