The part you are missing is that Trump is the result of democracy according to American law. He is the epitome of American democracy in fact. Such a foul and wretched person should never have been allowed to get close to the Presidency, but the real power in America decided they were best served by a tyrant with aspirations of global power, so they offered us two to choose from.

Our choices always have their blessings, regardless of what we might want. If they don’t, the necessary illusions will be spun and the level of threat present in the lives of average Americans will be ramped up until they want the fascist authoritarian as badly as the oligarchs do. With over half of America balanced on the thinnest edge of financial ruin and working multiple jobs any offer of relief will be grasped at, and authoritarians always offer strong leadership that seems like a shortcut to security, never mind the greater issues of freedom, social justice, and equality.

Those are things Americans like but don’t feel they can afford any longer. After all, the land is all owned and the factories are leaving, so Americans have little to look forward to for themselves and simply can’t afford to be vigilant for “others”. When faced with the fear of serious harm one doesn’t easily rise above animalistic behavior to climb to the next level of the pyramid of needs.

Men who lust for power first achieve financial supremacy, but that is never their end goal, only the tool of our enslavement. Eventually, even the wildest wolf will wag his tail out of gratitude when his captor brings him the table scraps that keep him barely alive.
