There is nothing wrong with the current system as it is, however, that reality isn't what people imagine and what corrupt politicians and their oligarch masters portray it to be. Both have used misdirection and misinformation to twist the democratic process into their favor, abandoning the purpose of government in the process.

We have effectively had a fiat currency since '34 when FDR took us off the gold standard domestically. While many myths surround that move and remain today, it freed our government to "fund" anything that promotes the public purpose without regard to revenue. Once taxation and bonds (revenue) were disconnected from the ability of Congress to spend the available currency to accomplish any potentially possible goal is infinite.

There is no "infinite+1", so revenue is not a consideration Congress should apply to spending. Its limitation to spending for the public purpose is no longer funding, but the availability of resources and labor necessary that won't cause inflation pressures. The money is the easy part, but neither the neocons nor neoliberals want you to know that. That would mean giving up one giant philosophical division that they use to appear divided in purpose, which they are not.

Imagine the society you would develop if you had unlimited funding and the only real restraint was real resources and labor. What would your imaginary world look like? What would the consensus of the imaginary world look like? It would certainly have to be better and much more equitable than the present reality. It is entirely possible without a major change in anything but the political will of Congress to manifest such a world.
