There is only one true store of value, and that is the currency that all "commodities" are denominated in. Bitcoin proponents don't understand that anything that sees a profit accrue only does so at the expense of something, or someone, else. They are also quite smug in their insistence that their investment is not dependent upon the political winds or the corrupt banking industry.

However, they fail to understand that the very industries they claim they are liberated from by Bitcoin are responsible (or at least necessary) for the existence of Bitcoin. How someone can claim that an imaginary item that was the product of massively expensive tech and required massive amounts of energy to find is going to free us from the evils of the world is beyond my comprehension.
