We should push for policies that can aid this adjustment like wage insurance, higher minimum wages, reductions in occupational licensing, and a host of other improvements to make our labor markets more dynamic and responsive to structural changes.

This won’t be possible as long as our politicians/leadership stay stuck on stupid and demand that the government can have no beneficial role in managing the necessary mitigation of economic damage to individuals. This will necessitate abandoning the traditional responsibility of corporations, that gain extreme benefit from the society, as being only to its shareholders.

The terribly mistaken concept that the monopoly issuer of a sovereign fiat currency must restrain itself within rules designed to defend a gold reserve is already killing people at a clip that would warrant invasion should it happen in any other country. Politicians, anxious to retain their donations, will vilify AI as the new immigrant and America will fall further behind while it comforts itself with the myth of our superiority we tell each other in order to ignore the massive decline of the society all around us.
