Too many proposed "solutions" to fossil fuel dependency have equal, or greater, reliance upon those fuels to implement. Simply replacing our diesel powered commercial transport with electric vehicles will mean mining almost half of all lithium reserves, and those will only supply us for a bit more than a decade before needing replacement. Mining and processing those reserves will also contribute to climate change and will produce more inequality globally.

We are already too late to escape many of the harmful results of climate change, even if we find the resolve to start in earnest tomorrow. However, we must recognize that neither businesses nor politicians have the required mindset to do what needs to be done correctly. The subject is rife with fads and "feel good" answers that won't accomplish the so critically necessary purpose.
