Until people realize that their government can "afford" anything that is available, including excess labor, without needing revenue from taxation we will always see the slightly better off defending the poverty of those beneath them. People are generous, as long as they remain secure and in control of what they see as "theirs".

The fascists running our nation at the moment make great use of the tendency of the ignorant masses to equate the finances of the currency issuing government with their own. By asserting the falsehood that the federal government must "find", either via taxation or borrowing, money to spend the classes will always be at odds with each other over who benefits from that spending.

MMT (Modern Monetary Theory) is the accurate description of how money comes into being and is destroyed, as well as all in between. It promises to be the chink in the corporate/fascist armor if the people can manage even minimal understanding of economics and simple common sense. Once people figure out that we can have a civilized and compassionate society at no cost to them it will be game over for the elite fascists and likely capitalism itself.
