What we need to abolish is the archaic concept of taxation to "fund" spending for the monopoly issuer of our currency. Corporate/business taxes would be a good start to make a point, but the entire thought process surrounding taxes and borrowing, neither of which can be funding mechanisms, must be revamped.
The monopoly issuer of a fiat currency, that only accepts debt denominated in the currency it can create at will, never needs its own unit of account back to facilitate future spending. Nor is it revenue constrained in any way.
This makes "any" misery or lack of resources that could be mitigated with new money creation (deficit spending) entirely a political choice, not economics. We are a miserable and poor society amid vast riches because someone in power "wants" us to be such.
