What would cause you to believe that every "red state" Governor and legislature wouldn't fully support installing a dictator and following his/her orders? I recently saw some informed comments from people in Wisconsin who stated that defeating any GOP politician running for a state office would require 60% of the popular vote due to extreme gerrymandering of districts.

I'm quite sure that this is common in red states where the election process is managed by party loyalists whose only concern is remaining in power. How long will it be before Senators from those states are "appointed" by Governors who have cemented their own power in perpetuity? The GOP made a concerted effort to secure their power in the local and state governments while Democrats can't even get their voters to the polls if it doesn't involve a Presidential race.

We have clear evidence that minority rule is a force to be reconned with at the federal level after watching McConnell play the Democrats at the highest level for decades now. If you think that voting and democratic rule are still factors in American politics where donor's benefits are favored over those to the people in an 85-15 ratio, regardless of which party is in power, I have this lovely bridge to show you.
