When Bernie says “No one knows” it is because no one knows. We do know that it will be significantly lower than the status quo cost that unions are feeling so protective over, and that it covers a lot more people for more of their healthcare issues. We also know that we are the only nation to adopt the employer-based insurance model of payment and, to date, no other country is willing to piss off their constituents as badly as moving to such obvious grifting would suggest.

Insurance serves no productive function but represents a large percentage of one of America’s major cost factors. It also places itself between consumer and provider which is counterproductive to the best interests of both, exactly the thing conservatives claim the government wants to do. If given a choice, which is what Bernie is actually offering, I will choose the one I control with my vote over the one which is only profit-driven.
